On our way to visit very special friends Gum Scrub - where the hell is Gum Scrub I hear you say - well it's a closely guarded secret - we went into Port Macquarie to get a few supplies. We noticed a small unobtrusive bakery on the way in but parking was full on our side of the street, so we came back the same way on the way out. Bel's Bakery is named after the owner's Mum. Staff member Liz had a beautiful smile and soon tempted me with a delight of different possibilities. Of course, the normal purchase of multigrain bread was a must. Bob's favourite, vanilla slice, had to be another choice and I went for a very very naughty mud cake slice. |

Since Kay and Keith were allowing us, Rex and our motorhome to stay overnight, I thought a treat for Keith in particular was worth trying. There were about ten different sponge cakes and cheesecakes in their own display cabinet. The Chocolate Strawberry Sponge was "spoke" to me and said "buy me! buy me!" Knowing Keith had a sweet tooth (and the rat - he doesn't show anything on his weight even if he really pigs out!), I thought "Why not?" |

As you can see from the photos, the display of breads,
cakes, slices, pies, pastries, sausage rolls, speciality items such
as birthday and wedding cakes - was all just too much. |
