Smoko - Bawley Beach Reserve This is a very pretty spot and is right next to a very safe swimming beach. Nice BBQ and a couple of tables and flushing toilets - bore water. You'll find it perfectly level if you park near the huge tree on your far left closest to the beach. Good walking along the beach and around the extensive reserve. During our stay two motorhomes stayed overnight without hassles despite the No Camping signs. (Christmas school holidays) Be aware that locals can see this area from some verandahs! The best bet is to park outside the area overnight - plenty of places. |

Bawley Beach is located
20 kms south of Ulladulla NSW and 32 kms north of Batemans Bay. Turn off
at Termiel at the Shell servo and follow Bawley Point Road
until you come to a Stop sign. Turn left for 200 metres then right down
a dirt track for another 200 metres. Easy turning circle except when extremely
busy. Nothing nasty overhead. Not a good spot if you are towing but it
will accommodate say a Swagman.

This is a good swimming spot and attracts
a lot of locals, but no surfies just family groups. You can walk miles
along the beach in either direction. At low tide you can ride a mountain
bike, BUT it is not super hard sand.

A small note to newbies! We like to park
with the rear facing the view. Looking at the photo below it is a bit
rude to other visitors to extend your awning when parked in a busy place.
As you can see from the photo above there was absolutely no one there
earlier on! A good trick is to park on the right hand end of this area
and then the awning hangs over a fence. This works well in most beachside
carparks and you don't get "picked on" or worse your awning
arms hit by another vehicle!

Best to arrive early on weekends and
school holidays as this is a popular spot. Lovely swimming beach with
dogs allowed on leash. Many locals took their dogs swimming and we could
see no signs banning this, but that's not to say it's 100% OK. Absolutely
recommended. HEMA 31 E 12 |
