This door was designed by Roy Coalter of the CMCA Brisbane Sunshine Wanderers. It uses aluminium security mesh pop riveted to the existing Hehr light duty screen door. Roy has taken a different approach to others on these pages in that he has used mesh on the centre lock section by bending the mesh into a shallow box.

The photo below right shows the centre section with just enough gap to fit your hand through to operate the outer door from the inside. The photo below left shows the spring assisted closing mechanism. The centre lock is a keyed affair augmented by two cabin bolts about 600 mm below and above - a sort of low cost triple lock but not of course automatic. Nevertheless it is still a workable safety door and it would appear to be OK if you were sleeping in the vehicle on those hot Queensland summer nights.
