Aussie Traveller Awning - Rafters and Edge Anti Flap Clamps - Simply the Best!

WE had no idea just how well this system worked, until visiting the CMCA Island Wanderers at a Georgetown Rally in atrociously windy conditions - up to 140 knots. Everyone onsite pulled in their awning except Julie and Peter Myers. They didn't need to as they had the best anti-flap system currently available. Yes is isn't cheap at just under $300.00 but you only have to save one awning to make it pay for itself many times over. Julie is pictured below.

The picture above right shows the Aussie Traveller Anti-Flap kit installed. Basically it is an aluminium frame that clamps onto the leading edge of the vinyl. The black levers clamp the fabric. The length is set using a telescoping arrangement and then clamped using the black plastic knurled knob. A clearer picture below left shows this in detail.

Julie's awning is very long as it is installed on a Denning coach conversion. Three roof rafters stop it flapping all night and give excellent support as they are of the curved variety. Again these are telescoping square aluminium tubes with a spigot on each end. The photo above right shows how these are attached to the roller - a simple hole is all that is required. Julie and Peter ALWAYS take the precaution of using a guy rope just in case there are exceptionally strong gusts. The morning after the windy night needed zero adjustments to anything - amazing stuff!
