a Wheelchair Ramp to a Coaster This story shows you that you should never give up motorhoming if you become disabled. John an active member from the CMCA Van Demons Chapter told us that "one moment he was standing there just like us and in the next he could no longer walk". All he did was fall out of his truck. He pointed out that "life can change forever in a matter of seconds". John sadly can no longer drive but that doesn't curtail motorhoming one little bit as partner Lois is now a great Coaster driver! When travelling the aluminium ramp simply folds up into the door opening and actually becomes a very strong door. |

| The pictures above show the method John uses (unassisted by the way) to get in and out of his vehicle during rallies. He sort of rolls out of the motorised wheel chair and "bumps up" the final few feet into the van. When departing he drives the chair up the ramp. This was a fairly low cost solution to a tricky problem. Good on you Lois and John - we wish you many more miles of happy motorhoming - never give up guys! |
