Rather oddly this fantastic device has been introduced into the Winnebago range with absolutely zero fanfare. It is essentially a new breed "Smart Charger". What this means is that it will rapidly charge a battery then automatically revert to float charge. It is temperature compensated via a small probe that is placed in front of the first battery. What this does is hold the charge back so that gassing hopefully does not occur. It should be noted however if a second unmonitored battery has a cell failure it will NOT detect this and gassing could then occur. This is not a problem in a well ventilated enclosure but motorhomers need to be aware of the possibility. The unit can be retrofitted to ANY Winnebago. Don in spare parts quoted us $1160.00 in December 2002. Now this sounds a bit expensive but we have used one for six months now and absolutely recommend the unit as first class and worth every cent!
