Solar Electric Australia 240 Volt Inverters

There is a lot going for buying an inverter made in Australia with a 2 year guarantee as well. T he SEA range starts with a 150 watt model. This is adequete for running a juicer, stab mixer, laptop and most equipment chargers etc. It is a full sine wave model which means the electricity is cleaner than your 240 volt at home and with less variation. A thing NOT in its favour is that it is NOT double isolated. This means that in the event of complete melt down 240 volt cant leak into your 12 volt system. We liked the spunky yellow case with built in fan on this inverter. You don't get a 240 switch on the Piccolo model. It's worth remembering with all inverters to let them turn on and settle down before applying a load. This is particularly important with computers. The all important start wattage is very good at ????? . We didn't like the fitting of a cigarette lighter plug as these from bitter past experience can spell bad news. With a 150 watt inverter starting currents can easily reach 25 amps momentarily - not good! A better way to instal would be to use a two pin polarised plug available from Camec or electrical wholesalers.

Now the Tempo is a 500 watt unit and is designed to plug into your existing motorhome wiring. It has an on demmand start feature. This means it idles away in the background and switches to power mode as soon as it detects a load. Don't forget though that the gadget is using current all the time and in critical set ups this should be taken into the calculations. Now to connect into your house electrics you must use a qualified electrician. Try to find one that deals with RVs or you could end up in strife as your motorhome electrics is entirely different to your setup at home. (M.E.N. is not used on motorhomes) The SEA website is really good and you can download complete brochures in PDF format. After sales support is fantastic with emails being answered in under 24 hours. These inverters work well with RCD safety switches.
