We were asked to assist with diagnosing radio problems with a couple of solos in the Brisbane Sunshine Wanderers chapter of the CMCA. We quickly worked out the problem, but were horrified to hear that one lass had paid over $300.00 for a Uniden 1/2 watt hand held! Ouch! We enquired further and she advised that she was told that it would work "underwater". It's true that this is a very water resistant radio and an absolutely top product, but not the first choice for a motorhomer on a budget by any means. The lass went back to Dick Smiths and managed to get her money back and then buy the $80.00 model which she should have been sold in the first place. The moral of the story is to ask other club members before buying anything you are unfamiliar with unless spending money is your favourite pastime!
