Making Money as You Travel
| These stories are aimed at those who think they can't afford to take up motorhoming. Well you certainly can easily do it if you can augment your pension/superannuation. The photos below show a couple travelling round Australia totally self supported, simply selling bric-a-brac and old books. The motorhome is a converted bus and the retired couple carry the stock and trestle tables in a covered trailer. The photos were taken at the very popular Pottsville Markets near the Queensland/NSW border. We spoke to them and they advised it's a great life travelling from market to market and only really working 5 days! Looking for stock is more fun than work! We loved the "finger"! We met another couple in a Coaster conversion who had taken eight weeks to travel 200 kms! They had not stayed in one caravan park in all that time and did the markets selling doggie baskets and hand craft. |

Fruit Picking Motorhomers are in great demand for this activity as they are less trouble to the growers as they have completely self contained facilities. Lots of info on the internet via any CES job agency. There is an excellent book called Work About Australia and it lists the work available in each major town - expect to pay around $20.00 in bookshops or direct online. Don't think you have to be super agile and climb ladders for fruit picking as there is lots of easier work in the packing sheds. |
