We stumbled on Gary the Service Manager at Tynans Mercedes Service, Kogarah NSW quite by accident. Our brand new Mercedes Sprinter started running hotter than normal on the way from Brisbane to the CMCA Rally at Paskeville South Australia. We tried in vain to get dealers in both the Newcastle and Gosford areas to take a peek but most couldn't see us for a week! |

When on the outskirts of Sydney, we rang Tynan on Wednesday afternoon, explained our problem and he said come on in and we'll have a look at it. So we said see you tomorrow morning. We landed on Garry's doorstep early on a very busy Thursday morning. Unbelievably he had someone on our vehicle within 30 minutes! We were very impressed. We were shown to the customer lounge, made very welcome by Johanna and offered tea or cappucino with raisin toast. By lunchtime, they had, they thought, made a diagnosis, but the parts weren't in stock so they would have to get them from Melbourne. See you tomorrow morning said Gary. So off we went to stay overnight in the driveway of CMCA friends BJ and Peter (isn't that what CMCA is all about - being able to yell help and getting a park without notice - thanks guys!) Next morning back to Tynan, parts were on hand - not being the technical one it sounded major to me - and by lunchtime the Merc was all back together again. Off we went heading south. |

Unfortunately about 20 kms later our temperature was still rising, so a phone call to Gary and back to Tynans for further investigation. Another diagnosis, some new parts to be ordered from Melbourne but it was Friday so could we come back Monday. Yes we did and, once again, we were greeted by Johanna - by this time she knew how we took our cuppa! Gary and the boys did their best work and just after lunch we were off again, this time heading south to Paskeville. The temperature is still a bit up and down depending on the external temperature, so we will be back to our Mercedes dealer in Brisbane for another checkup but we could not fault the professionalism and extremely helpful attitude of the Tynan staff in general and Gary in particular. To the management at Tynan - whoever chose Gary as your new Service Manager, you made the right choice. Thanks Gary! |
