Now as things stand at present, the only mass produced fibreglass motorhomes made in Australia is the excellent and very popular Matilda range made in Far North Queensland and until recently, sold via the Toyota dealer network. For all those sceptical fiberglass disbelievers please read on as the motorhome reviewed was built around 12 years ago and really is in absolute immaculate condition with zero fracture cracks etc. It is of course the Deluxe Kakadu Safari. We feel this design was light years ahead of its time as most of the unique ideas still aren't supplied in mainstream motorhomes. Thanks CMCA members Denis and Helene for sharing your motorhome with us! |

Let's start with the "L" shaped kitchen. All Kakadus have a rear entry door and this really opens up the design possibilities. Looking at the photo at left below you will notice it is a pull out way before they appeared anywhere else. Note the attention to detail with the tall item provision.

No space is wasted and everything is so compact. Looking at the cupboard doors below, notice how both of the doors have inserts fitted onto the insides? One for knives and the other for anything flat - a toaster is in there at the moment.

The kitchen has so other clever ideas. Tucked away in what we be the wasted space in a corner is your waste disposal area. This is so clever as you drop in the garbage bag liner on a special frame. Then the lid becomes your cutting board!

Another item we forgot to photograph is the square cup rack. The cups stack up vertically with the handles sticking out of a narrow slot. Remember this comes as STANDARD!!! There is absolutely zero chance of ever breaking a cup even on corrugations. If you look oh so closely at the photo below - in the left hand corner you can just see the handles of the cups sticking out. To the right of that is a very clever shelf for those all important CMCA institution Happy Hour glasses. Oh yes, we forgot to mention that it has a double bowl sink!
