Low Cost Digital Volt Meter
| One of the most important things you need to know about your motorhome is the house battery voltage. Digital meters to read this cost around a horific $120.00 and the old fashioned analogue ones as fitted to all Winnebagos etc. cost around $44.00. In our view these are pretty useless, as battery voltage is only critical over a very small 2 volts range. In practice you simply can't glance up at an analogue gauge, usually partly obscured in a cupboard. Enter this new gadget at just $44.95! It is positively dead easy to read accurately with zero guesswork. It also has a clock function. |

OK, so we all have a clock, but this also has a stopwatch. Set it, and when two hours are up just stop for a break! The meter also has a row of 3 LEDs to give an even easier guide to battery condition. Now here's a thought for the manufacturers. Motorhomers need two voltages - the house batteries and the starter battery. It would be great if they ditched the clock idea and instead gave us two voltage read outs. It probably wouldn't cost anymore either. We came across this gadget at the 2002 CMCA rally at Barcaldine being demonstrated by Ian Hall of Solar Panel Xpress. |
