It is a sad fact of life that the wise motorhomer now has to take a few more precautions safety wise than in the old days. Recently a CMCA member was attacked in a rest area in the centre of a very large town and the front windows smashed in. Now this can be minimised simply by fitting laminated side windows or fitting safety film inside the windows. This incident however prompted the CMCA to brain storm the problem and the Safety Committee took it on board and with the help of Winnebago and others a safety concept vehicle will be on display at the 2003 Casino Rally. The vehicle will also be on display at chapter meetings for around eight months - overall a rather brilliant idea! Features will include:-

• Stainless steel security screen with triple locks
• Security film inside windows
• Gas leak detection with gas bottle shutdown
• Smoke detection with gas shutdown
• Detection of exhaust gases inside motorhome
• Security alarm system with panic function if ever "attacked"
• Trailer monitoring including fire and security
• Common control panel covering all alarmed areas
• 2kg nozzle type dry powder extinguisher
• Fire blanket

The vehicle will also be the first Fiat based Leisure Seeker and will have a bathroom right across the rear - a very interesting design similar to what Winnebago are doing this year in the USA. The photo shown is NOT the vehicle as it hasn't been completed yet!
